The "Ipshita Memorial" is a family-based charity that was created in October 2010 by us (Sunil, Shipra, Sushmita and Ovishek) in the loving memory of our beautiful daughter and sister; Ipshita. She was known by many colourful names; “Ipshita”, “Jhilli”, “Chotdi”, Chotodidi” and “Ippi” to name a few.
Tragically, on 23rd of August 2010, Ipshita was tragically taken away from us following a road traffic accident. This devastating event shattered our fun and close-knit family of five; and we could barely envisage a recovery. We were deeply touched and humbled by the tremendous support that we had received from our friends and family at the time, and ever since. Many of you have helped us continuously, knowingly and unknowingly, much more than you will ever realise.
Throughout this period, it has become apparent how loved and popular Ipshita was and still is.
She is clearly missed by her family, friends and colleagues. Ipshita was a medical doctor (registrar) in renal medicine and her last workplace was in the “Renal Department”, Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, UK. She had many hopes and ambitions but sadly, her life was cut short at its prime.
It is for this reason that we have set up the charitable organisation; "Ipshita Memorial" to raise money in honour and recognition of Ipshita's pure and giving nature. We hope to focus on all the wonderful memories that we have of Ipshita and attempt to contribute to society in a positive way in her memory.
The main objectives of the “Ipshita Memorial” are as follows:
1. Medical services to poor and deprived people
2. Educational support to disadvantaged people, including those with special needs
3. Support to organisations that work with children, elderly and those with special needs
4. Providing support to medical research and development
Our humble aim is to continue Ipshita's joy in helping others and to leave a lasting legacy in her beautiful name. Any donation, however big or small, would be hugely appreciated and would, undoubtedly, bring to life one of Ipshita's many noble dreams.
Thank you for all your support.
Best wishes,
The Roy Family
