This year’s Ipshita Memorial Charity Barbecue was inspired by the “FIFA World Cup 2018” as the UK went football-crazy.
England, in particular, was swept away by “those Three Lions” on our shirts and with the chants of “It’s coming home, it’s coming home, Football’s coming home”! Alas, it was NOT to be this year but “Football almost came home”!
We were excited to raise money for two wonderful charities; “Age UK” & “Street League”.
Age UK
This is the UK’s largest charity for the elderly which helps more than 7million people per year.
We raised money for projects that use sport for the elderly such as “Walking Football”. The objectives are to build the physical & mental strength of the elderly, as well as, providing companionship, security and peace. We think this is the least we can do for the generation that raised us…..
Street League
This is the UK’s leading sport for employment charity. It’s mission is to see an end to youth unemployment in the UK. It’s 10 to12-week long programmes support unemployed 16-24 year olds to learn the key skills, gain the necessary qualifications and work experience to move into a sustainable job or further training. Now these are goals worth scoring!
